Ante Kitchen & Bar

Ante Kitchen & Bar is located at Solaris Dutamas (Publika) facing the main road opposite the residential area (bungalows), if you are unfamiliar with the name. They've been around since late 2012 and that's saying something. Despite their outlet's location and accessibility from the mall, they are doing well for themselves. If you have been here, you would know what I mean.

Let's get started, shall we? 
First off, they have a new Brunch menu (available from 11am - 4pm)  and I was itching to check it out. So, the 5 of us woke up early on a Sunday morning and meet up at Ante for some makan

Garden Duck Salad 
Watermelons, poached eggs, pangritata, bacon bits, parmesan cheese, Caesar dressing.
We wanted to order the Crispy Trotter Salad but we felt that there was too much pork (what do you mean by too much pork? there's no such thing!) and attempt to balance our meal with a different meat. Therefore, we opt for the Garden Duck Salad above.  The portion is generous and it's a refreshing starter for a hot day.

Sweet Belly
Signature roast pork bell, crispy skin, honey soy sauce.
Super crispy skin and the honey soy sauce glaze. This is a starter and if you are here with a bigger party, order a few plates. Me alone can eat half of the portion or the whole damn thing.

Deep Fried Soft Poached Eggs with Bacon
Pair of eggs, house smoked bacon, aioli, sourdough toast, honey soy side salad.
Thick slab of bacon sits on top a sourdough toast. We all agreed that we love the bread and bacon combo.

Hard and crispy on the outside, oozy on the inside. Isn't that beautiful ?

Ante Big Breakfast comes with a complimentary coffee
Choice of sunny side, scrambled or 63 degree poached eggs, house smoked bacon, bratwurst sausage, trio of shimeiji, button and oyster mushrooms, guacamole and a slice of sourdough toast.

We opted for the 63 degree poached eggs because we were curious about it. Why is it not 62.5 or even 64 degree? We had a long argument about this (seriously!) So, we asked the owner why? He said that 63 degrees is when it's close to being a hard boiled egg but yet not fully harden and have a slight runny texture to it. It's pretty much like an onsen egg but thicker yolk.

We played with the eggs for a bit and yes, it has a jelly-like texture that you are able to fork it up and it stays in place. You can try it if you don't believe me. Have fun forking it up!

Since there was 5 of us, the big breakfast obviously is not enough and we ordered an additional 3 more sausages and 2 deep fried poached eggs. We took some pics of it but I'm not going to share it here for its very "graphic" reason.

French Toast
With compote of blueberries, strawberries and mangoes, vanilla ice cream.

I believe that this is the only cold item in the brunch menu. We thought that the french toast will be hot and well, we were surprised that it's cold. The ice cream is to die for and we also ordered additional ice cream because we are gluttons.

Valrhona Chocolate Delice
With hazelnut feuilletine and earl grey tea.
I'm not a fan of chocolate but my friends who are enjoyed this delicate dessert. 

If you love pork and you're in the neighbourhood, why not check out Ante? They have an loads more interesting dishes on their menu especially for dinner. I have fallen in love with their Chargrilled Pork Steak (very generous portion) and Char Siu Curry Cream pasta.

Did I mention also that the ambience is very romantic? Yes, you can have pork and romance in the same venue. Boys get to enjoy the meat and the girls get the romance here.
