Ummason Korean Restaurant, Desa Sri Hartamas

If you've read my previous blog post you would know that I've recently gone K-crazy. I've always had a soft spot for Korean food. With my increase love for K-drama, the love for all things Korean grew exponentially.

I have a friend who's taste bud is more picky than mine recommends me this place. Ummason Korean Restaurant in Desa Sri Hartamas. So far I've been there more than 5 times and I love it. Another good thing about this place is that they open until 2am. If I'm craving for Korean food after midnight, I know where to go.

The photos below are taken on different occassions.

Banchan (side dishes)

Baby anchovies. If I'm not mistaken, it is caramelised with sugar like how my grandma make it and served with plain porridge.

Homemade kimchi. I don't like cabbage but I eat kimchi, it's so weird.

This is my ultimate favorite item in the whole menu. DakDdongJib (Fried chicken gizzards). I wish that I drink beer or any form of alcohol. I think this will be a great complement.

Kimchi Jjim (Steamed pork with kimchi). Quite light and watered down soup. The pork is tender.

The only item for BBQ is this. SamGyeopSal (Grilled Pork Loin). This version may differ from what you order. This is because we have ordered a lot and couldn't possibly finish it so we asked the waiter nicely if we could order a single portion of meat instead.

Don't you love the way I arrange the meat and onions? Here, you have to cook your own food. Don't be a spoil brat and expect people to cook for you.

Budae Jjigae (Pot Luck Stew with Hot Dogs and Baked Beans). This also comes with loads of ham and it's effing delicious. No joke. This is my husband's favorite and we order this everytime we eat there.

Gamja Tang (Pork Rib soup with potatoes). I love the soup for it's pungent taste of fermented beans. My younger siblings dislike it so much that they did not finish the soup. I guess the older a person gets, the more they crave for strong tasting food. My parents, me and my hub love this. The meat practically falls off the bone. And it is served with chunky potatoes. My favorite!

Although the interior of this restaurant is not much to look at. It looks pretty run down and quite empty everytime we go but the food is awesome. It feel very homecooked as what the restaurant is named after, "Ummason". It roughly translates to mom's hands or mom's cooking.
