Uncle Jang Korean Restaurant

We worked late today and by 9pm there are not many choices of restaurant opened that serve tasty food. And so I suggested to Mr Hubs, why not give Uncle Jang a try. It has been there for a while and I remember a friend said that it's nice. He is always okay with Korean food, he should be a walking kimchi. (and that came out sounding totally racist)

Uncle Jang specializes on Dak-Galbi, which is a popular dish in South Korea. This dish is a stir fried dish which comprises of marinated diced chicken, chili pepper paste, sliced cabbage, sweet potato, scallions, onions and rice cake on a hot plate.

The hot plate

That's how big the hot plate is. The model in this photo is 5'8 and weights 90kg therefore his hand is not small.

First, the waiter will throw all the raw ingredients onto the hot plate with the chilli pepper paste.
 A closer view.

Mix and mix until all is even.

My dad always say that my close up photos are not close enough. How about this, eh ?

And the Dak-Galbi is ready to be eaten.

Kimchi. This is pretty authentic. We wanted more but was too shy to ask for refills.

Raw onions. Crunchy and sweet. *farts*

The menu here is simple. Choose whether you want "Hot Spicy" or "Normal" flavour. Minimum order is 2 portion, just like any other Korean restaurant. Choose your add-ons ; mushrooms, rice cakes, ramen, udon, rice, cheese, sweet potatoes etc.

We chose a mix of Hot Spicy and Normal flavour and our add-ons are mushrooms, rice cakes and ramen. It was the spiciest Korean meal both of us have ever eaten in our live. I am a feather light in terms of eating spicy food but Mr Hubs is from Penang and spicy is his middle name and he couldn't take it. Salute to the Koreans!

We later spoke to the owner (korean man) and mentioned that it was f***ing spicy and he said, "Oh, I didn't know that this is your first time here. If not, I will recommend Normal." Oh well, now we know and will not order Hot Spicy anymore in the future.

And all I want to say is, this meal is freaking awesome. We will be back! And it's a pretty cost effective meal especially if you come in a group.
