Restoran Pan Heong, Batu Caves

My friend Ms FN have been raving about this place for some time but driving all the way to Batu Caves seems like a stressful task. However, this time around we agree to join my friends to eat here due to curiousity.

Our group this time is big. A total of 12 of us. Ms FN, Ms CAV, Ms CAL, Mr NL, Ms SS, Ms J, Mr K, Mr HS, Mr B, Ms JL, Mr Hubs and I.

The organiser this time is Ms JL and she was surprised when I confirmed with her the night before and the morning itself. Reason being that during my off days I normally sleep in. Anyway, we woke up at 10am and reached Batu Caves around 11 plus. By then, the place is already packed with customers.

This photo shows the throng of customers waiting for table. By then, we were ready to leave.

Garlic stir fried yau mak

Sang Har Loh Mee - This is the star of the day. I normally do not like Loh Mee but this is excellent. I don't mind refilling.

Chinese Style Fried Chicken  (Lam Yee Zhar Gai) - just like eating fried chicken at home

Foo Chook Roll - the fish paste is super fresh

Steamed Cat Fish - the meat is fresh and I bet my dad will like this very much

Deep fried Pork Belly - serve pretty lean meat and girls will be okay with this

Mee Mamak Goreng - much better than mamak

Fried Sliced Stewed Pork Mee Hoon - I love this dish too because it reminds me of my childhood. When I was younger, my mom went back to her hometown and my dad attempts to cook us a meal. I can't recall the brand of sliced stewed pork but it's green in colour and it's super delicious.

I will definitely come back here again and this time with my family. These are old style cooking and they will definitely appreciate it. Better arrive early if you do not want to wait for a table. Despite the packed restaurant, dishes come out pretty fast. Go there with an empty stomach or you won't be able to savour all these lovely dishes.
