Fat Spoon

There was a time when everyone raved over the existence of Fat Spoon in Damansara Uptown PJ. I was one of those groupie and give my support via social media. You know, the liking of their FB page and raving about their coffee and stuff.

So one fine night, I head over to Fat Spoon for drinks with Mr Hubs and my good friend Mr KB.

Our beverages
I will not go into details for this post as it was sometime ago and we only had drinks. The interior is quirky (i like that...i like that a lot!) but the outdoor dining area is infested with mozzies (which i don't like at all!)

When I do eat here, I will blog about it.

Bangkok Beat Bistro, Empire Shopping Gallery

New places to eat is always a treat for us. Bangkok Beat Bistro located at Empire Shopping Gallery is one of the new initiatives that is managed by creativEATeries. They also manages Suki-ya at Pavilion KL and Paradigm Mall. Suki-ya is a eat-all-you-can shabu shabu eatery.

Don't you just love the chic decor ? I, for one love it for it's simplicity and the use of muted colours to make the place look retro. It's all light brown, black and white. Love, love, love it.

Thai Milk Tea - resembles the one we had in Bangkok

Tom Yum Seafood Soup - simply delicious. Not too sour and not too spicy. Just nice for us.

Stir Fry Minced Chicken & Basil Rice - the pork option will always be better but it is not available here.

Bangkok Beat Mixed Grill - the chicken is absolutely good, beef is tender, prawns are fresh but the squid is a tad chewy.

Red Ruby Coconut Ice Cream - this dessert is to die for. I've never tasted anything this good in this combo. Maybe I'm not well travelled enough to know. But so far, this is absolutely fantastic.

S.Wine, Ben's Independent Grocer (B.I.G) at Publika

I haven't been blogging for a while. Sorry for the hiatus as I've been busy. First, it was caused by the arrival of my copy of Diablo III. (who isn't occupied with this?) Then, it was catching up with family and friends plus work, events etc. And lastly, it was my new obsession with a few possible new hobbies. (besides eating....)

So, this is a new place (pretty new...) and I found out about it in Time Out KL magazine. And I've always been curious of its location. It says that it's located inside B.I.G but I can never find it. And yes, I'm one of those woman who can't read maps and have no sense of direction. (Guilty!) I've shopped at B.I.G numerous time and I still don't know it's location.

Anyway, last Sunday Mr Hubs and I went to Publika again to collect some stuff and try our luck again to look for S.Wine. And this time, he found it! Bravo! Good job done, mate! Excellent! Amazing! Kudos! The secret location ? It's between the non-halal section (butchery) and the wine section. There's no sign of a restaurant/cafe in there at all. My God!

We walked in and was ushered to our table in no time, despite the place being packed. Maybe we look special that's why we managed to get a table. Or it could be the big ass camera (Mr KB's) that I was lugging around. I look like a reporter therefore MUST serve us quick or else I'll complain. Hahahahha.... daydreaming!

Porky plates lined up on one side of the wall. Very simple and attractive.

The furnitures. Very much like any of The Big Group's F&B outlets.

The ugly wiring that is adopted within S.Wine. Maybe it's just me for liking my wires placed neatly and well hidden. Or this is the new chic interior design thingy. I don't know, you judge for yourself.

Hainanese Pork Chops - very tender and juicy meat. This is a must try.

Arugula Sausage Rosti - this is my order. I personally will not recommend this as it is much too oily. I know that pork sausages are meant to be oily but trust me. While I was eating it, I felt uneasy and was anticipating for an impending heart attack. Rosti is too fried and pieces of lard are placed inside it. No-no for me.

Momofuku Pork Buns - we both agreed that this is our favourite. The flower bun (mantou) is soft and the sliced pork (doong boh yoke) is super tender that it melts in your mouth. This food item is a bit pricey but it's worth it. Let me give you a hint : it costs roughly of a main course in a restaurant.

We are both satisfied with the food here and will be back of course coz we are both orang babi. Use a GPS to locate this cafe if you can't read map like me. Wait! That won't help coz you can't read that as well. Erm, bring a smart person and you won't go wrong. Have fun porking (this sounds so wrong too...)
